Is a voice message too long and you want to reduce it to the essentials? Or remove sensitive personal information when forwarding a message? The handy feature of being able to edit voice messages is not built into most messaging apps. It still works with these tricks.
These apps will take you further
Since the function to edit voice messages is not (yet) integrated directly into messaging applications, users cannot bypass third-party software. Applications like “Cut music and ringtones” either “Audio recorder and editor” help to record and edit the audio files.
“Cut Music & Ringtones” works very simply: just share and open WhatsApp voice message with editor app using “Share” feature. The typical sound waves of the audio file appear in the application, you can set the bookmarks for the “new” audio file by pointing with your finger. A player is integrated to check the extract. Then choose a filename, click “convert” and you’re good to go. The audio file is stored on the smartphone and is ready to be shared through the appropriate messenger.
Record, cut, share
“Audio Recorder and Editor” works like this: the application records the voice message using the recording function, so users have to play it completely. The application creates a new file in a list of recordings, whose sound waves can also be defined using start and end markers. Then just tap on the save button, choose a filename and that’s it. The share feature is hidden behind the three dots next to the new audio file.
If you also want to prevent the sender of a voice message from knowing if it has been listened to or not, you have two options: On the one hand, the read confirmation can be deactivated in the WhatsApp settings, which means that you no longer receive it. a read receipt yourself – for all messages.
The other option is only available on Android devices: the voice message can be shared and saved with the device’s file manager before listening to it. Files with the “.opus” extension can be opened with applications such as “VLC player” outside WhatsApp listens
