Files up to 100 megabytes in size can be sent via WhatsApp. But that should change now. In the future, this amount of data will apparently be multiplied by twenty. Messenger is currently testing in a beta group to increase the limit to two gigabytes.
In line with this new amount of data, a new comfort extra is also being tested at the same time. In the future, WhatsApp will show how long it is likely to take to send files. The sender can see how long he has to wait until the file has reached the WhatsApp servers. And the recipient can also see how long it will take to download your content.
According to the WABetaInfo news service, the possibility of sending up to two gigabytes is currently being tested with users in Argentina. However, the fact that WhatsApp is already working on convenience features related to the new 2 GB limit suggests that all users around the world will soon be able to benefit from the new options.
One thing is for sure: if you want to send large files via WhatsApp and want to see the time when uploading and downloading larger files, you need at least WhatsApp version 2.22.8.11 on Android or version 22.8.0.74 on iPhone. In the browser, the time display is supported as of version 2.2209.3.
