iPhone 14 Pro gets even thicker

Design drawings purportedly show that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro will be slightly thicker than the current model. Apple’s most accurate analyst confirms it and also has an explanation for the increase.
In just over five months, Apple will present the new generation of iPhone. This means that Apple, contract manufacturers, vendors, and accessory manufacturers are probably already gearing up for production. So it is not surprising that, as in previous years, construction plans showing the details of the devices are already appearing.
Leaker Max Weinbach has posted plans on Twitter that should show the dimensions of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. If they are genuine, they show that the design remains almost unchanged. The specified dimensions also reveal that the Pro models will be slightly thicker than current devices and that the camera unit on the back will grow a bit in all dimensions.
Interestingly, Ming-Chi Kuo, the most well-known and accurate Apple analyst, has now indirectly confirmed the authenticity of the design drawings. Because he commented on a “9to5Google” report on Twitter about the Weinbach leak.
Camera upgrade to 48 MP
Kuo writes that the main reason for the larger and more prominent rear camera on the 14 Pro/Pro Max is the upgrade of the main camera to 48 megapixels (MP). Current Pro models only have 12 MP cameras. And the analyst has learned more details from his sources. The new image sensor is 25 to 35 percent larger diagonally and the lens height is 5 to 10 percent larger.
Assuming the drawings shown by Max Weinbach are correct, the next two Pro models no longer have a single wide notch in the screen. Instead, Apple packs the camera and sensors for facial recognition into a circular, pill-shaped hole. Exactly the same was shown above by “91mobilesPublished computer graphics.
Pro models need to be upgraded
It is rumored that the other iPhone 14 models could have a notch again. “MacRumors” writes that Apple wants to differentiate the Pro-Duo more than the simple variants. This could be a another tweet from Kuo even after going so far that only professionals get the new A16 chip, while simple variants are again equipped with last year’s A15.
Sometimes the analyst has to correct himself, even a little. He previously assumed that iPhones could have an in-display fingerprint sensor as early as next year. now tweeted er, this probably won’t be the case in 2024 either. Face mask facial recognition is already a great biometric solution. For the next year expect iPhones with a periscope camera, as is already the case with other top smartphones.
