Readers pick the best smartphone camera in a blind test

For the fifth time, the ComputerBase community gets to decide which smartphone currently takes the best photos of selected subjects. Editors experimented with this format for the first time in late 2016, followed by another round with many more smartphones and motifs in 2019. Vote in two rounds

Today the editors return to dedicate themselves to classic photos. The format has been slightly adjusted for this year, because 7 smartphones and 16 motifs lead to a quickly confusing number of 112 shots, whose one-shot comparison degenerates into a tedious task. In the last two comparisons with fewer photos, the editors had already noted that many photos further down the test received significantly fewer votes than the photos at the top of the article. Therefore, this time the blind test takes place in two rounds with eight motifs each. The first part will only include daytime shots, while part 2 will also include nighttime shots.

How the photos were taken

The following applies to all photos: All smartphones involved in the test were operated with their current software (as of March 28) and the default camera settings in automatic mode. This time, the photos were not resized to the lowest common denominator to hide the source, because all the smartphones involved take photos with a resolution of around 12 MP. The files were only changed to the extent that the removal of the EXIF ​​​​data means that no conclusions can be drawn about the smartphone used in each case.

Any ComputerBase member registered in the forum can participate in the polls. Only one favorite can be selected per survey. The surveys each have a term of four days (four times 24 hours) from the publication of this article. Consequently, the polls close on April 5 at 12:00.
