Savings bank customers can look forward to a major innovation in ATMs: contactless withdrawals can now be made with a smartphone on select devices. You can read how this works here.
Savings Bank customers now have even more freedom when withdrawing money. Like the “Caschy Blog” page reported, the company is launching contactless pickup via smartphone. Previously, Sparkasse customers could already get their money contactless via Girocard at some machines. In the future, smartphones should suffice for this.
The process is carried out on Android smartphones through the application “mobile payment“. iPhone users turn to Apple Wallet. If you are at an ATM with NFC function, you need to unlock the device, launch the corresponding application, and hold the smartphone to the point marked on the machine.
Sparkasse allows withdrawals via smartphone
The ATM’s NFC interface now reads the digital card on the smartphone and enables the “Withdraw Money” option at the machine. However, the card PIN is still required for the process at the end. Therefore, it is not possible to withdraw money without contact. However, some Sparkasse customers will probably prefer this option because they don’t have to carry their wallet with them.
The step taken by Sparkasse is not only a relief for its own customers, but also a signal to the competition. Recently, the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken decided to stop withdrawing money via smartphones. The savings bank may also be targeting competitor customers who are now losing this feature.
