Dell has released another new gaming monitor outside of the Alienware subsidiary brand in the form of the G3223D. The “Fast IPS” panel, trimmed for fast switching times, offers 2560 × 1440 pixels at up to 165 Hz. In contrast to the more expensive UHD sister model, there is even USB-C.

The G3223D is now available from Dell

Only on Friday did the editorial team talk about the Dell G3223what with 4K UHD, 144 Hz and HDMI 2.1, but has not yet reached German retailers.

The G3223D in the same design with a lower WQHD resolution, however it is already available from Dell Germany and costs 470 euros probably less than half of the UHD counterpart.

No HDMI 2.1 but USB-C

There are fewer pixels and there is no HDMI 2.1. Instead, two HDMI 2.0 sockets are installed. Additionally, there’s DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB-C upstream port, which also serves as DisplayPort via Alternate Mode. Two USB-A ports, one of which has a fast charging function, are installed in the front area of the bottom edge of the case. There is also a headphone output.

Brightness is also lower compared to the more expensive Q model: a maximum of 400 cd/m² is still sufficient for the DisplayHDR 400 standard. When it comes to color space coverage, DCI-P3 leads at 95 percent. It is very likely that 10-bit color depth will be achieved through FRC simulation, but there is no confirmation.

Dell specifies the response time of the “Fast-IPS” panel as 1 ms when it changes from gray. FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync (compatible) are also supported.

Gigabyte’s M32Q and FI32Q offer similar features, including USB-C, though the latter costs the same as the Dell model. Another 32-inch monitor with WQHD, IPS and 165 Hz is the Corsair Xeneon 32QHD165 (test), which already costs 700 euros with extended equipment.
