Russian troops seized the power plant on March 4. Since then, the reactor crew has been forced to continue operating it. A dangerous condition, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as workers in their high-risk profession would normally have to be replaced regularly to ensure company safety.

When Russian troops attacked the site in early March, a fire broke out at the nuclear power plant. Since then, two of the five power cables feeding the power plant and one transformer have failed.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also reported on Wednesday that it had lost direct communication with the power plant in Ukraine.
