As Nintendo keeps pointing out, we’re only halfway through the life cycle of the Nintendo Switch. So we may have a few more years to go with the popular hybrid console. But it shouldn’t be a secret that behind closed doors in Kyoto, successor system is worked. Possible clues to this are now provided by a leak caused by a Cyber attack on the technology company Nvidia Occurred.
As a result, hackers were able to steal sensitive data and, above all, the company’s source code and published part of it. In this way, the technology behind Nvidia’s proprietary Deep learning supersampling method – in short: DLSS – exposed, so amateur programmers, but especially competing companies, could be enriched by this knowledge. For Nvidia, this represents a serious blow.
Unfortunately, you could also have shared information that goes beyond company walls. Nvidia provides the technical inner workings of the Nintendo Switch console and is therefore an important partner for Nintendo. The NVN2 abbreviation can now be found in leaked DLSS-related file and folder names, indicating a New or at least improved API for Nintendo hardware can be closed, which allows the use of DLSS. The programming interface used so far for the Nintendo Switch is known internally as NVN.
While the available information strongly suggests that Nvidia is involved in the development of the new Nintendo Switch technology and thus may offer its DLSS technology, we have no way of knowing at this time if this will be the case for sure. Since the data was inadvertently leaked, there is no way of knowing from the outside what the companies’ plans are or how far along they are.
