At Schleswig-Holstein Ideas Competition 2021/2022 is recently launching esports lvlup!HR awarded second place. The prize comes with a cash prize of 5,000 euros, which was sponsored by the medium-sized investment company from Schleswig-Holstein. The state competition for innovative start-up ideas is organized annually by WTSH GmbH, the state’s central agency for business development. This year around 25 start-ups participated.
Schleswig-Holstein is considered a pioneer in Germany when it comes to esports. The land between the seas has the first official funding for esports, which has been distributed to organizations, institutions and clubs since 2019. In this way, a state esports center could be created in Kiel, a performance center in Flensburg and various esports halls in traditional sports clubs. This infrastructure development will continue in 2022. Schleswig-Holstein plans to create four regional esports centers in different locations, including in the Lübeck region and on the west coast.
The fact that the northernmost federal state thinks and acts very progressively when it comes to esports is now also evident in the awarding of the jury prizes for the state ideas competition. This acts as an innovation award to honor new and fresh ideas. The esports startup lvlup!HR received the silver jury award here.
The idea behind lvlup!HR is the use of esports in the course of various modern HR work steps:
- assessment Center
- Teamwork, employee retention.
- recruitment
- Staff development, training.
The lvlup!HR concept has already been successfully tested in practice. Together with eSports Nord eV and a medium-sized company, a first successful field test was carried out in 2021.
susanne fehlhaberconsultant, trainer & mediator and co-founder:
“The inclusion of esports in a company’s HR work takes into account the new job, in particular, the changed requirements for managers and employees. It sets modern employers apart.”
frank simoneitWest Coast University of Applied Sciences professor and co-founder:
“We are immensely satisfied with the recognition of our idea and the work carried out so far. As a team, we continually work together to turn an idea into a working concept. Especially in the course of the shortage of skilled workers, which also affects Schleswig-Holstein in particular, we can offer a wide range of added value and solutions with our measures.”
Timo Schoeberexternal professor at Viadrina European University and Stuttgart Media University, co-founder:
“E-sport offers an incredible amount to be used comprehensively. Especially in the course of progressive digitization, it is important for companies to be able to keep up with the associated circumstances. Esports can showcase very exciting and useful concepts and offers that enrich each company’s portfolio.
In a press release, the lvlup!HR team expressly thanks all partners, including the company with which the concept could be tested, WTSH GmbH, the medium-sized investment company from Schleswig-Holstein, the jury, eSports Nord eV and the IHK. Flensburg, the Flensburg Technology Center and the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
