The German energy group RWE is known in Hungary as the electricity supplier of Elmű-Émász and as the owner of the Mészáros power plant in Lőrinc, but the company has “known something else” for years. Now, for example, it turns out that if you have an incentive, you can easily take a wind farm investment around your neck. Even in Poland.
A portfolio of Renewables Now showed up the news that RWE has received an environmental permit for the 350 megawatt (MW) wind farm project to be installed and commissioned in Polish waters.
TO FEW Baltic II 25-44 offshore wind turbines will be installed in the Polish Baltic Sea during the investment under the name. For this, RWE, which is making the investment and then building it, has received the environmental permit, which has selected the port of Ustka, near the wind farm, as the basis for the project’s operation and maintenance work for 25-30 years. .
Not much, but nothing
350 MW of wind power generation capacity nationwide is not a lot. Even if currently only 329 MW can be generated in Hungary due to government bans. In Poland They countthat the country will have 11 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040, which will require the training and hiring of 30,000 new workers by 2030 and 60,000 by 2040.
RWE did not draft the permit application in Germany but locally: the company’s Polish subsidiary (Baltic Trade & Invest Sp.), With the help of the regional environmental director for the Szczecin region in northwestern Poland, submitted the documents after two years of impact evaluations. This has now been judged with favorable results.
A preliminary lease agreement has already been signed with the Ustka Port Authority and the plan is to build the service station by 2025. Immediately after the construction and installation of the wind farm can begin in 2024. It is estimated that the generation capacity of 350 MW in this area will be able to generate enough electricity for about 350,000 Polish households a year.
The Germans noticed
Currently, RWE is only one of the players, but not the most important, in the investments necessary for the Polish energy revolution. As we wrote previously: the Spanish Iberdola is 1200 MW in size It will be built on behalf of the Polish PKN Orlen, but also already married they bought themselves also in a development project called Sea Wind, at the end of which up to 7,300 MW of wind power generation potential will be connected to the Polish grid.
In addition, only Orlen, one of the Polish energy companies, has been activated: 2.5 GW of offshore wind energy by PGE 2030 wants to know in your portfolio, Enea wants to reach 6.5 GW (true only by 2040) and Tauron to reach 1 GW by 2025 so that by 2030 it can reach a level higher than 65 percent with its participation of renewable energy producers.
