The Lebanese “Hezbollah” announced that it had shot down an Israeli army drone today, Thursday, in the vicinity of the southern Lebanese city of Yatar, while the Israeli army opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
The director of Al Jazeera’s office in Beirut, Mazen Ibrahim, said that “Hezbollah” issued a statement in which it claimed to cancel the Israeli march in the Bint Jbeil district, and claimed that it was canceled at two o’clock in the afternoon. The party’s statement was quoted as saying that the Israeli drone was attacked with appropriate weapons.
For its part, the Israeli military said it was investigating the circumstances of its drone crash today in southern Lebanon, during what it called a regular security activity.
Al-Jazeera correspondent Elias Karam said that the Israeli army issued a brief statement on the matter, in which it did not clarify whether the drone was shot down or crashed due to a technical defect, explaining that the plane fell into Lebanon 10 kilometers – by air – from the border.
Karam indicated that Israel believes that the rules of engagement regarding the violation of Lebanese airspace have changed since the drones attacked what it said were factories to verify long-range weapons for the Lebanese Hezbollah in the southern suburb of Beirut more than ago. two years.
In recent years, Hezbollah targeted several Israeli planes and managed to shoot down some of them. In return, Israel repeatedly announced that it had intercepted and destroyed planes launched by Hezbollah fighters from southern Lebanon.
