Following the accusation that sites belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry were hacked and all agricultural and livestock data was lost, CHP Ankara MP Gamze Taşçıer claimed that hackers were paid to recover the data.
Cumhuriyet’s Barış Pehlivan claimed that all the ministry’s information systems were cyber-attacked and all agricultural and livestock data was lost, citing a source from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry last week.
In 2020, it was decided to transfer the information systems of the institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to the center.
Apparently, according to the decision, the systems of the Milk Producers Association were moved first, but the penetration test was omitted, which should be organized to see the gaps in the application under normal conditions. The system operated in this way was hacked. It was noted that the hackers encrypted the entire ministry database with the software called CryptoLocker and demanded a ransom, while the payment was requested in Bitcoin.
CHP Ankara MP Gamze Taşçıer recalled the article in question by tagging Minister Bekir Pakdemirli in her post on her Twitter account. Taşçıer continued:There is still no response to the complaints that all the Ministry’s data was stolen due to the IT deficit. The information I received is that the thieves were paid to recover the data.” I ask: “So how much did you pay? “
Speaking to Diken later, Taşçıer said: “There is currently no information on how much has been paid. But in the information we receive, there is information that the payment was made through Bitcoin and a serious source was transferred. We have not yet been able to obtain precise information on the amount ”.
