Google has made a key decision about smartphones running the Android operating system. Google is removing support for Android phones that run older versions of Android without logging into Google accounts. Google will stop supporting logins on Android phones running version 2.3.7 or lower. Google’s decision is expected to take effect on September 27, 2021.
Google has recently sent a related email to users using version less than 2.3.7. Users using version 2.3.7 are advised to at least update their smartphones to Android 3.0 Honeycomb VOS. Gmail, Google Search, Google Drive, YouTube, and other Google services will not be available through the app unless it is updated. Google claims that users can get them in the phone’s browser.
Google claims that the Android 3.0 version is being used by very few users during this period, less than the working version of Android. Google made this decision by focusing on security and user data. Google says that as of September 27, smartphones running Android version 2.3.7 will receive a username and password error if they try to log into the respective Google apps. Google encourages users to update their software or change their phones. Google has decided to replace smartphones with this version of Android with newer phones.
