Just presented, the first mobile home with a green heart. 99% recyclable, it’s called Wonderland, is an eco-sustainable mobile housing unit designed for outdoor tourism, which was born from the collaboration between Crippaconcept (www.crippaconcept.com) that produced it, and the AUDe laboratory (Architecture and Urban Design) of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia, to whose project a publication of the University’s research group is also dedicated.
Name Wonderland With which the mobile home was named was not chosen by chance, in fact it resembles an amusement park linked to a domestic space. A space designed specifically for families with children: kitchen plus living room, bedrooms, bathroom and large veranda are designed with a design that at first glance highlights the playful and family spirit with which the concept was born. “The large windows immerse the mobile home completely in the surrounding nature and project the interior space to the outside thanks to the large terrace, equipped with a mini-pool,” they explain in the company. What if the weather is bad? It is equipped with a multimedia system and a game console to avoid boredom. But the real surprise is in the lower level, and that is where the real “wonderland” opens: large cylindrical tunnel passages that, hidden under the terrace, create a kind of private playground that can be expanded adding other identical units.
The entire structure was made of wood, the internal coverings of the walls and the furniture are made of bamboo (a material that is “100% recyclable, an excellent alternative to tropical woods”) or linoleum, composed of 97% of a mixture of flax seed oil. , wood flour and a jute fiber net to reinforce the fabric. On the outside, heat-treated coniferous wood slats were applied “so that the wood withstands unfavorable climatic conditions without the addition of additional treatments based on chemical substances such as solvents or paints.” Linoleum was used for the floors, in which recycled cocoa bean shells were incorporated, while for the furniture an attempt was made to reduce the melamine content and formaldehyde emissions, using plastic-free materials.
The green version of Wonderland It is still a prototype, currently visible in the Grippaconcept showroom in Torre d’Isola, in the province of Pavia. Nor can it be ordered or bought because it is intended for glamping. Probably in 2022 it will already be in circulation ready to welcome vacationers who love to enjoy holidays in the open air, immersed in nature without sacrificing comfort.
