The weekend comes with a major leak of the famous rumor Evan blass who claims to have gotten his hands on the list of specs associated with it Qualcomm SM8540, the future flagship processor that will debut in phones in 2022. We found that this is the successor to Snapdragon 888, and considering the updates mentioned here, we are talking about a Snapdragon 900 instead of envelope Snapdragon 888+ which as far as I know will be just an overclocked chipset for SD888.
A first detail revealed here is that SM8450 is developed thanks to the 4 nm process and that it brings a Snapdragon X65 5G RF modem. It has an Adreno 730 GPU, a Spectra 680 ISP, and support for the Qualcomm Aqstic WCD9380 / WCD9385 audio codec. It brings Kryo 780 cores based on ARM Cortex v9 technology and we also found that quad channel LPDDR5 RAM support is offered here.
The Qualcomm SM8540 processor also comes with an Adreno 665 video processing unit and an Adreno 1195 display processing unit. We also learned that the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 chip will be responsible for Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E. This is the only information revealed, and if Qualcomm’s release schedule repeats, we should see this processor announced in December at the Qualcomm Tech Summit in Hawaii.
Expect this Snapdragon 900 to come in the Galaxy S22, OnePlus 10/10 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 12, and other 2022 flagships.
