Apple has released the final version of iOS 14.6. We show the news in the new version of the OS for iPad & iPhone.
The next update is now available for iPhones and iPads, iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 users.
Important: You can extract the full iOS 14.6 images or use the “Settings” and “General” area to select the “Software Update” menu item. If you’ve turned on “Automatic Updates”, you should see iOS 14.6 in the next few days.
New option for AirTags
Apple’s fairly new tracking devices AirTags are on the one hand wanted, on the other hand there are repeated hacking attempts. Now there is something new for the event that activates the “Lost” mode for an AirTag. Then the search engines get contact information, the standard was previously the phone number and the display of a short message. As a new option, there is an email address to make contact.
iOS 14.6: other new features
- Podcasts: Since iOS 14.6, paid subscriptions for individual channels and shows are also possible through the podcast app. Apple recently announced that it wanted to widely expand its podcast offering and is competing for more listeners with premium content. The extensive free offer should remain.
- Lossless Apple Music: Apple Music subscribers get access to lossless audio and 3D audio with Dolby Atmos with iOS 14.6. Both will start in June at no additional cost.
- Unlock with Apple Watch: Apple has fixed an error that can occur when unlocking the iPhone with the Apple Watch. If you had locked iPhone via Apple Watch, unlocking didn’t work this way.
- Regards: A bug showing reminders as blank lines was also fixed in iOS 14.6.
- Call Blocker: With built-in call blockers, iOS would sometimes choke and no longer show them in settings. IOS 14.6 is supposed to fix the problem.
- Bluetooth: IOS 14.6 is supposed to fix lost connections via Bluetooth when making calls and the problem of sound output being redirected to other nearby devices.
- Start: iOS 14.6 fixes a bug where iPhones take a long time to start up.
Manageable upgrade
IPhone users carry iOS 14.6 with them and are happy with the bug fixes and security updates. In terms of innovations, the upgrade is manageable. But that doesn’t matter, in June Apple should certainly take a look at iOS 15 at the WWDC developer conference. Then it should be more exciting.
