Microsoft officially sets the date to stop “Internet Explorer”

Microsoft announced its intention to stop working with its famous browser.internet browserMore than 25 years after its launch.

According to Microsoft, support for the latest version of the browser on “Windows 10” will stop from June 15, 2022.

The company said in a statement released Wednesday that it will focus on developing the “Edge” browser, which it launched in 2015.

“We announce that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is Microsoft Edge,” said Sean Lindersay, managing director of Edge.

Lindersay added that “the Internet Explorer 11 application will be retired and out of service on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10.”

The statement noted that Microsoft will focus its attention on the “Edge” browser for reasons including its ability to support multiple sites and software, simplify production and work with it, as well as its advanced security settings.

And Microsoft had been preparing since last year to introduce the “Edge” browser as an alternative to “Internet Explorer” when it announced its intention to integrate “Edge” with the “Windows 10” operating system, in a way that cannot be removed.

To some extent, the last step is similar to the action taken by Microsoft in the late 1990s when it decided to integrate “Internet Explorer” with the newest operating system of the time, “Windows 98”.

Microsoft had launched “Internet Explorer” in 1995, within the “Windows 95” software, and after being the most popular browser, its usage rate does not exceed 4 percent, while the Google Chrome browser controls 71 percent of the users.

Internet Explorer was used by more than 95 percent of Internet surfers in 2002.
