Today, Friday, Dr. Khalil Yasuo, former head of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, attached to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies, died after a fight against the disease.
Yasso is considered one of the most prominent Egyptian scientists in the field of nuclear energy, as he worked to reactivate the “Dabaa” nuclear power plant construction project.
“Yasu” is considered one of the most important officials of the Ministry of Electricity and the Nuclear Power Plant Authority in recent years. He played an important role in finalizing contracts and agreements for the Dabaa nuclear power plant with the Russian company Rosatom.
Yasu attended many discussions, negotiations and discussions with the Russian side over the past 3 years in his capacity as a member of the committee formed to review nuclear energy contracts and agreements, in addition to his work as an advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Electricity for matters nuclear power.
Yasu led the first Egyptian nuclear delegation to Moscow after the Egypt-Russia nuclear deal, and was witnessed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
Yasso continued his offer after leaving his post as head of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority and continued as a technical advisor to the Egyptian nuclear program, which is based on the peaceful uses of electricity generation.
The leaders of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, the Regulatory Agency for Electricity Services and Consumer Protection, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and the employees of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority lamented Yasso’s departure, highlighting that “the deceased played an important role in the revival of the Dabaa project during his presidency of the authority.”
