New trend in social networks
Clubhouse should also come for Android

So far it’s only available for iPhone, but the enormous popularity makes the creators of the Clubhouse social media app want more – they’re announcing an Android version. However, there is a controversial mechanism behind the rapid growth.

The new Clubhouse social media application will also be able to run on smartphones with the Google Android operating system in the future. The two founders of the company, Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, announced this in a blog post on Sunday. So far, the audio app is only available for iPhone. When Clubhouse will also be available on the Google Play Store, the creators of the clubhouse are not advertising.

Clubhouse is an audio application in which users can listen to conversations like a live podcast or actively participate in discussions. Unlike networks like Twitter, you cannot comment on posts in writing or assign “likes.” Davison and Seth wrote that Clubhouse hit a nerve for people to get to know each other.

“And it has moved rapidly in the last ten months, from a small group of beta testers to a diverse network of communities.” In the last week, “two million people from around the world have visited the clubhouse to exchange ideas, learn, laugh, entertain, meet and network.” “It’s the most exciting thing we’ve ever been a part of.”

Controversial diffusion method

With two million active users, Clubhouse is significantly smaller than Twitter with around 330 million active users. Programming a version of Android is apparently still in its infancy – they will soon start working on the Android app and will add more accessibility and localization features so people around the world can experience Clubhouse in a way that’s familiar to them. ” wrote the founders of the company.

Meanwhile, they will be in charge of solving technical problems with the servers under control due to the large number of users. “Much of a new round of funding will go into technology and infrastructure to scale the clubhouse experience for everyone, so it’s always fast and reliable no matter how many people attend.”

For viral distribution, Clubhouse relies on a controversial method that was already the basis for WhatsApp’s rapid growth. After installing the application and activating the invitation, the application requires access to all the entries in the contact address book of the iPhone used. This practice was heavily criticized by data protectionists in Europe on WhatsApp, because users actually have to ask each individual contact for permission before personal data is transferred to servers in the US.
