University of Missouri Announces SEC Hoop Schedule, 5 Non-Conference Games

Date:

Less than three weeks after the NCAA basketball season began, we finally got the first similarities to the Missouri schedule. The SEC released a conference slate for all teams on Friday morning. This will start on December 30th. Missouri has also announced five non-conference matches, with the team playing a total of 23 games in the regular season.

According to a team spokesperson, Missouri may add up to four more non-conference games to its schedule, including multi-team events and the annual Braggin Lights matchup with Illinois. The two schools are still discussing playing their annual rivals.

By hosting Oral Roberts, Missouri will begin the season on Wednesday, November 25, the first day Division I teams are allowed to play. The match time has not yet been set. Missouri will travel to Wichita on December 6th, host Liberty on December 9th, and Bradley on December 22nd, elsewhere in non-conference play. The Tigers will also host the TCU on January 30th as part of the annual SEC-Big 12 Challenge. ..

The SEC has chosen to maintain its regular 18-game meeting schedule, despite the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19. With 18 games scheduled for nine and a half weeks, the league is not very flexible if a match is canceled due to a positive player test, but each team will be on the previous Saturday in March. There is room to reschedule one match every six days. To the SEC tournament.

Missouri will begin SEC play on December 30, hosting Tennessee. Volunteers, along with Arkansas, Texas A & M, Olemis, and South Carolina, will be one of five teams that the Tigers will play twice during the conference slate. In addition, Missouri hosts LSU, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Alabama. It faces Mississippi, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida on the road.

Not surprisingly, Kentucky is currently Kentucky’s top-ranked team on the Missouri schedule. Wildcats is ranked 10th in the whole country. Other notable points of the SEC are Tennessee 20, Auburn 24, Oremis 42, and Arkansas 54. Missouri is eighth in the league nationwide.

TCU will be Missouri’s highest-ranked non-conference opponent — at least on the current schedule. The horned frog is ranked 53rd in the country by Ken Pom. Wichita State University is number 74 in the Top 100 and is the only other non-conference team. When Braggin’s rights game bears fruit, Missouri’s unconference slate will definitely be strengthened. Ilini is ranked 18th by Ken Pom.

Like virtually all Division I schools, Missouri struggled to schedule this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated testing protocols. The Tigers had to abolish previously scheduled matches against Kansas, Utah, and Missouri. They also planned to play at Myrtle Beach Invitational with seven other teams during Thanksgiving Week, but the tournament was moved to Orlando and eventually canceled. However, Missouri aims to find a new multi-team event between the opening round on November 25th and the team’s trip to Wichita.

The non-conference slate is still subject to change, but the overall schedule at this time is as follows:

December 22: Bradley
