Electronic Arts details the types of enhancements PlayStation 5 owners can expect from a range of titles, and the results aren’t entirely consistent. Apex Legends has improved performance and resolution by up to 1440p, with more upgrades planned for next year and seems to be ranked highest. However, Star Wars: Squadrons are left behind in the cold of the PS5. The Xbox Series X is treated to support a resolution of 120 frames per second, or 2160p when halved, but with improved lighting. Why is that so? I do not know.
Elsewhere, The Sims 4 boasts improved load times and smoother frame rates, and the same is true for UFC 4. The EA states that it will elaborate on what the next generation upgrades for FIFA 21 and Madden NFL 21 will require at a later date. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered does not receive any special treatment on PS5.
However, we must return to the Star Wars: Squadrons topic. Why is the Xbox Series X being treated for such a huge enhancement when everything on the PS5 is better lighting? Can the PS5 handle frame rate boosts as well? I hope you get some answers. Looking forward to any of these next generation updates? Please let us know in the comments below.
