New Orleans (AP) — New Orleans Saints will begin placing fans on the home game stand after the mayor has agreed with the team on a phased plan to begin against Carolina on Sunday.
Plans announced on Tuesday started with 3,000 tickets for the game on Sunday, increased to 6,000 fans in the November game in San Francisco and Atlanta, and up to 15,000 in the game in Kansas City and Minnesota in December. There are no changes to local health and safety guidelines.
A limited number of tickets for players, teams, and other necessary NFL obligations have also been approved. Both the saint and the mayor’s office reminded everyone to wear masks and continue practicing physical distance and hand washing.
In a statement, Saints said, “It is imperative that everyone play their part in the fight against COVID-19 to ensure that all progress made by our community has not been lost and settled. That’s it. ” “This plan is based on creating a healthy and safe environment for fans to safely arrive, enjoy and depart from Saints’ home games.”
Mayor LaToya Cantrell agreed with the saints on the approach after fans were not allowed to participate in the first three home games of the season. Hundreds of stands consisted primarily of personally invited families of players, coaches, or staff.
The saints who lost the home game in Green Bay began talking to LSU about playing at the Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge to get their fans into the game stand.
Nine of the 14 NFL games last weekend had fans on the stands. Cleveland, Cincinnati and Houston also had fans in the game this season.
