Dead by Daylight implements ray tracing on PCs and the next generation. Xbox Series S runs games in 1080p

Date:

As part of Dead by Daylight Interview with Behavior InteractiveAsked for details on the next generation upgrades that will be in the game by the end of 2020. The developers have already promised 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but is there ray tracing? support? It’s not at the time of launch, but it will appear at some point, including PCs.

Joris Four (Product Manager): When I say ray tracing, I think I speak for all of us. It will really bring immersiveness to another level.

Ray tracing is absolutely supported. This is part of the Realm Beyond roadmap. Take the time to implement it on PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series S / X and PC to avoid adverse effects on gameplay and balance.

Xbox series X Brothers are smallHowever, Microsoft has positioned it as a console targeting a resolution of 1440p for rendering. However, it seems that some games are actually targeting 1080p instead. Ubisoft does it at For Honor The same is true for Behavior with Dead by Daylight, which may occur later.

Dead by Daylight Interview – Discussing the ever-expanding horror

Joris Four: At launch, we aim to run the game at the highest possible frame rate for a smooth experience. It’s 1080p for now, but we’ll continue to investigate how to raise it to 1440p.

Here’s a consideration: Most people who buy the Xbox Series S are console gamers who don’t own an Ultra HD TV. In that case, they probably own a Full HD TV, as the 1440p isn’t really a TV standard. Of course, when you play a game that renders at 1440p on a 1080p TV, the inherent downsampling improves image quality, but developers can understand that they wonder if the performance cost is really worth it.

Finally, we asked if Dead by Daylight would support PlayStation 5’s unique features such as tactile feedback and adaptive triggers on DualSense controllers and Tempest3D AudioTech. Unfortunately, these features aren’t there when the next generation patch is applied.

Joris Four: This is not provided to players at launch. Our goal was to get ready
We needed to prioritize features for the console launch window, and to achieve this.

However, it can bring something meaningful to horror games, especially 3D audio, so I hope it will be added at some point.
